Exercise Success Secrets

Here is a tip directly from the minds of athletes. For those of you who wonder what makes certain people stay motivated to show up to the gym and work out and remain focused during a workout session; here is a secret. Let your mind go!! If you are on the treadmill trying to get through 30 minutes of cardio you've got to tell yourself a story so that you literally become distracted from the tedious and painful task at hand. For example, think about what you are going to wear to your next important business meeting. Lay the clothes out in your head and visualize how fabulous you will look and feel in the outfit. If that's not your cup of tea here are some other topics:

organize your schedule for the week
create a business plan for a venture you are thinking about
imagine you are in the Final Four and you have the chance to make the winning basket
decorate your dream home

The key is to think about something that makes you feel good and therefore making it an easy topic to devote your attention to. Everyone has had the experience of daydreaming. You may get so caught up in a daydream that you forget how you got home from work. Apply this to your next treadmill run. It works! Before you know it, you'll be running consistently (and not hating it) losing weight, and actualizing your dreams!

My workout time has become my escape, my time to check out and spend some quality time with myself and my thoughts.
